Educated at Dalhousie University majoring in Accounting with a minor in Economics, Darryl went on to receive a designation as a Chartered Accountant with Touché Ross, now Deloitte. He was licensed by the Superintendent of Bankruptcy as a Licensed Insolvency Trustee in 1974. He subsequently worked as a Manager of Advisory Services for Industrial Estates Limited for seven years dealing with manufacturing companies located in Nova Scotia. His next experience was as a Vice President – Finance for the region’s third-largest steel fabrication company. Returning to an accounting and insolvency practice, Darryl became a partner in an accounting firm and principal of a bankruptcy firm. Selling that insolvency firm to a partner and finally to Grant Thornton. Darryl became a principal in a private-sector development company specializing in Central America. He returned to insolvency as a Vice President of PWC leaving this to establish his own firm and selling that firm to Grant Thornton. After selling this firm, he joined two other principals to establish 3 GM Group Limited.
Bill began his professional career in marketing with International Business Machines (IBM), subsequently attending the American University in Washington, D.C., earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Throughout his career, he developed and lead major domestic and international projects for various organisations and companies. He served as Manager, Business Development, for a vertically integrated energy company headquartered in Houston, Texas. In this role, he was responsible for project development (electrical and thermal energy) in Peru, Pakistan, India, and the United States. He later was employed by a major U.S. Taft-Hartley pension fund as Director, Equity Investments. In this capacity he secured a $110 million equity investment in the largest privately-held data centre company in the U.S., In a subsequent role as Director, Investor Relations, he raised $500 million investment capital for the fund's commercial real estate portfolio. A native Canadian, he moved to Nova Scotia, in 2017.
Annette is a small and medium enterprise development consultant. Based in Canada, her work has primarily included assessments of the business enabling environment, specifically policy and programme measures designed to enhance financial and non-financial support for the start-up, growth, and sustainability of the small and medium-size enterprise sectors. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in Africa, the MENA Region, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Her international client base has included organisations such as the United Nations International Labour Organization (ILO) 2003 to 2021; the Canadian International Development Agency (now Global Affairs Canada); the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); the African Development Bank (AfDB); the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); Egypt’s Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC); and the World Bank.
